Safeguarding at Leopold Primary School
At Leopold, the safety and wellbeing of our children is our highest priority. We are committed to providing a safe, nurturing environment where all pupils feel secure, respected, and able to learn and grow.
What is Safeguarding?
Safeguarding means:
- Protecting children from abuse and neglect
- Preventing harm to children's health or development
- Ensuring children grow up with safe and effective care
- Taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes
Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility. Every member of staff, volunteer, and visitor plays a part in keeping our pupils safe.

What to Do If You Have a Concern
If you are worried about a child’s safety or wellbeing, please contact our Designated Safeguarding Lead immediately by calling the school office or emailing safeguarding@leopold.brent.sch.uk
If you believe a child is in immediate danger, call the police on 999.
If you are worried that a child is at risk or being abused, contact Brent Family Front Door as soon as possible to share your concerns:

We believe strong relationships between school and home are key to safeguarding. We work closely with parents, carers, and external agencies to support the needs of all our children.

At Leopold Primary School, safeguarding is not just a policy — it is part of our everyday culture. Staff are trained to recognise signs of abuse and neglect, and children know they can speak to trusted adults at any time.

Operation Encompass
Our school is part of the Operation Encompass project which runs jointly between school and the Metropolitan Police.
Operation Encompass is a unique Police and Education early intervention safeguarding partnership which supports children and young people who are exposed to domestic abuse.
Operation Encompass is the process of the police reporting to schools before the start of the next school day when a child or young person has been involved or exposed to a domestic abuse incident the previous evening.
The information is given in strict confidence to the Designated Safeguarding Lead to enable support to be given dependent on the needs and wishes of the child.

The school plans to hold parent/guardian workshops over the school year to share information about this important project, the school's procedures and the parts of the curriculum which support children who are victims of domestic abuse. It is vital that we all work together to protect our children.
